We do not need this property to be zone to have a Dollar General. It is already a dangerous part of Hickory Grove Road due to the blind curve. This will be even more dangerous.

This petition highlights exactly why I'm running for Riverbend Township County Commissioner: to ensure our county government respects community input and sensible land use. Squeezing commercial retail into an R-1 neighborhood with severe road safety and runoff concerns makes no sense. I fully back the Planning Board's unanimous denial recommendation and stand with the neighbors calling on the Commissioners to vote NO on October 27th.

There is no need for another dollar general 2 miles from the other

We already have three Dollar General stores within a 4 mile radius. It may be convenient to a few but it will definitely be a eyesore to the rest of us.

The cons far out weigh the pros of a dollar general going in this location, extremely busy road, neighborhoods all around and a business there would cause possible traffic issues and more.

The curve in the road is too close to this property and with the heavy traffic on Hickory Grove Road, this would invite the likelihood of frequent accidents. Residential homes are adjacent so it is most unsuitable, particularly since there is a similar store within a mile.

I am a resident of Greendale drive..I vehemently oppose the Dollar General in our neighborhood…HGR is already dangerous without the activity this would bring…lights from 8am-10pm, foot traffic, garbage and strangers coming down our dead end street…

I strongly oppose this Dollar General plan. The area already has a very dangerous blind turn. My sister lives next door so we are constantly going in and out of Greendale and have to time it right.
Having more traffic in this area would create a MASSIVE traffic concern

This store would be in a very bad spot. My driveway ends right across the street & I have nearly been rear-ended several times coming from Stanley bc there is a bad curve right before the drive & where the store would be

As a Gaston County native with a background in public administration and local government, I understand the importance of smart development. This proposal places a commercial retail operation on a constrained 1.2-acre residential site, increasing traffic, parking concerns, commercial activity, and safety issues in a well established neighborhood. Commissioner’s established precedent based on REZ-25-05-13-00228 just over a year ago. This is NOT smart development. Vote NO on REZ-26-07-08-00252.

Rezoning this small residential area for commercial use is a terrible idea/plan. The area of interest on Hickory Grove road is located in a blind curve where heavy traffic has always been an issue.
The logistics for the Dollar General Store will not work for this location. They are simply looking for a “spot of land” to dump another store in.
For those that choose to shop at Dollar General there are multiple options located within a 3-5 mile radius that they can enjoy. Please vote NO!

Rezoning the parcels for commercial use would not be in the best interest of the community. The negative impact on traffic due to increased stop and go traffic on a blind curve is too dangerous. Increasing hazards on that stretch of Hickory Grove Rd not only impacts the residents in the immediate area, but it also affects every driver that uses Hickory Grove Rd as a route on their daily commute.

Our community is already saturated with Dollar General as there are four others under a 10 min radius. Forcing another into this area brings zero value to the residents, while introducing high-volume consumer traffic and massive commercial delivery trucks to narrow, family-friendly roads. This also puts our kids who enjoy playing and riding bikes here at an unacceptably high risk. I urge the board to protect our neighborhood’s character, recognize the clear lack of public need, and deny this.
