DepEd made school less like a second home for students. Like removing honors at the end of each quarter/term, making the passing grade 70% out of the number of items and making it harder to reach honors, high honors and especially highest honors and from further research they removed honors in general. Students have to wait an entire school year just to finally get recognized, this is a major motivation drop to students who persevere their studies due to the recognition. DepEd also made it that everyone gets recognition now to “avoid competition”. That makes it unfair for students who work hard and who actually put effort into their academics. DepEd is one of the reasons the Philippines is seen as a corrupt country and it pressures students as well. We respectfully ask DepEd and schools to rethink about how academic recognition and grading policies affect student motivation, stress, and learning. We are not asking for lower academic standards but we are asking for a system that recognizes effort, encourages improvement, and listens to students.
I am signing this mainly because deped decided to remove the honor system, which is really important to me and other students out there. I want them to add it back, so students actually can be determined to try in school. Without the honor system, its no longer competitive nor exciting. They just want us to study, perfect example of "high risk, no reward" my father once told me, everytime i get in this rank, i get a prize. So what happened to that? Its gone, because deped decides to remove honor
