I live in the area. The excuse to say that cambridge needs more housing doesn’t mean it has to be in “this protected area”. Toronto hasn’t built housing in the protected High Park, or St James park or Edward Gardens, Willet Creek etc etc. in Germany where 85 million people live in a country smaller than Montana have still protected wild natural reserves to 1. Protect the areas and 2. For generations of people to enjoy because once these areas are gone they, they are lose forever.

This isnt just a beautiful trail-it fulfills a very important function. The Devil's Creek Tail, Pond, ESA and Watershed recharge wetlands for our Middleton Wellhead and the Grand River. Without this critical buffer we risk contamination of our aquifer, Grand River and general natural recharge filtration system. With the Regional water shortage, we can't risk destroying these valuable non-renewable resource. Add more townhouses to the new development already in place and preserve our resources.

The first time I saw a group of deers just feet away from me was at this trail head. I had just finished a run on the trail and paused for a well needed breath when 3 deers passed behind me, coming from the water source they rely on in the summer. Shame on Hallman construction for building on this vital eco-system. Ironic since the Hallman Foundation claims to support local communities.

I think that the amount of development that has already occurred in that area is enough. The creek that runs through there houses a very rare fish and I think that should be enough to pause the construction and development. Development for the sake of development ends up hurting the whole community.

I started enjoying this space in the 70's when there was still a house on the property and my best friend lived there. It was a great semiwild space then and it's beautiful now. Let's leave this wild space be. Kids need wild spaces.

This is an incredible wild space with old growth trees. This area should not be demolished for another townhouse development. There are uncommon wild plants in this creek. This would be a huge loss to our natural water way system to developed here.
