We are asking the authorities to say no to the installation of call to prayer speakers at the mosque in Lakemba.
We live in Australia, and many of us believe this is not something that belongs in our neighbourhoods or in our daily lives. The proposed speakers would cost $24,000, and the plan is for 4 speakers to be installed so the call to prayer can be played for 15 minutes. This proposal has already been denied once, and now it has come back again and is being considered. We urge decision-makers to reject it again.
This is not about hating any religion or targeting any group. It is about protecting the character of our community and the way many of us expect to live here in Australia. People should be able to enjoy their homes, their quiet, and their privacy without unwanted amplified religious calls being broadcast around them. The response from a member of the mosque in Lakemba, telling people who do not want to hear it to close their windows, has only added to the concern and frustration many residents feel.
We are calling for a clear decision: do not approve the call to prayer speakers in Lakemba. Enough is enough. Our community should be respected, and Australia should not be pressured to accept something so many people do not want on Australian soil.

No religion has the right to upset other people peace and quiet What happens to schools, businesses nearby who have to listen to this and have their day interrupted with this noise
It’s sets a precedent first it’s once a week and then it will be every day and it’s noise pollution not acceptable in Australia 🇦🇺 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Because it disturbs the peace and is overbearing for those who live in the area. It’s not necessary in Australia.
This will set a precedent to give wright to all mosques to have loud speakers. They have it here in Caroline Springs at an Islamic school and it permiates the whole precinct and is not appropriate.
UN ACCEPTABLE IN THIS COUNTRY This is a Christian country
It was stopped when I was young with our principal religions due to disturbance so why should these be approved now ! In short no speakers allowed should become regulations in all quarters in Australia
We do not need this in our communities, let Australia remain free from this religious intrusion on our lives.
