Closing stations is simply not the answer

When we're facing further and further cuts to services, fire and rescue is one which should absolutely not be cut. Yorkhill is a key station for Glasgow's Fire Service, being close to city centre, as well as links to Southside and the West in general.

Yorkhill fire station is an invaluable asset to the community. Having firefighters in standby is vitally important for any situations that arise. Closing fire stations puts people’s lives at risk.

Cut politicians wages not fire and rescue services.

This is not simply about keeping a building open, it is about keeping emergency response capacity in Glasgow where it is needed. Yorkhill has had a fire station serving this community for generations. The firefighters based there know the area, the roads, the buildings and the communities they protect. Once a local emergency service is removed, we cannot simply bring those minutes back when somebody is trapped in a burning building….

Not acceptable to close fire stations especially ones like Yorkhill in built up, densely populated and many iconic buildings and venues in its area

The loss of this vital service to our community, where the population is growing, and especially the threat of longer response times, must be opposed vigorously.

Cutting of the service personnel, closing stations and reducing cover will not keep the public and fire service safer.

Because I live in the centre of town next to the Art School building that burned down. We need a Fire Station!

Firefighters are very essential and should not be forced to close down much needed stations

Lives will be at risk with prolonged response times and more strain on other existing services.

So many fires in Glasgow. We can’t afford to shut a fire station.
