This is a community service that is badly needed in the area. The firefighters know the locale alongside the surrounding communities. The response is fast as is safe and the station fighters have supported the massive fire in the town recently.
We seem to live in a city that has many fires which of course requires firefighters

Closure would make the area a more dangerous place to live. In the future this public building would eventually be sold off for development and lost to our community (like the former Cranstonhill Police station). We need a fire station!

Speed of response is essential at any fire. Recent events at Central Station show that big fires can still happen. In Glasgow Necropolis is a large memorial to firefighters who have lost their lives in precious big fires this cannot be forgotten, those who make this decision should ask if they would like their name against it should the consequence be loss of lives and buildings in the future. Public services are already stretched and unable to respond as they may like.
Cuts have to stop.

Yorkhill Fire Station has protected the West End of Glasgow and its communities for generations. It isn’t just a building on a map, it’s a vital emergency service at the heart of the community that is growing larger every year.
Cuts and budgets matter but, more importantly, so does the safety of the people who live, work and visit this area.

Fires are still very much a thing we need to endure and shutting this fire station is sheer negligence from the Scottish Government. They are putting more people's lives at risk. They should be opening more fire stations not shutting them down.
