We urge Slough Borough Council to stop the sale of the Winvale garages and parking area to a third party and protect the small amount of free parking that our community still has.
After the permit parking scheme in Vale Grove and Winvale was pushed through, residents were left with permit fees to pay which meant more residents using the parking bays in the garage area. Now it seems that the Winvale garages and parking area may be sold off. If that happens, garage users will lose the spaces they rely on, and the wider community will lose one of the few places where parking is still available without cost.
There is also serious concern that homes could be built on the site. This would change the character of the area in a way that would affect us all, with further pressure on parking. Many could also be overlooked if new homes are built here, reducing our privacy and sense of comfort.
Most of us have not been properly made aware of this latest scheme, and that is not right. Decisions like this should not be pushed forward without honest, open consultation with the people who will live with the consequences.
We ask Slough Borough Council to pause any plans to sell the Winvale garages and parking area, properly inform local residents, and listen to the objections of the people of Vale Grove and Winvale before any decision is made.
You have stated the garages are underused however there are numerous people using the garages. We were also not consulted. My property backs onto the garages so what would happen to the back of my garden wall which is currently the back of my garage. If properties were built it would block out my light. Also if the vehicles parked currently round the garage area has to park in Winvale then I would struggle to get parking. Noise levels would also be a problem to
