Taunton doesn't need to be extended, it doesn't have the jobs available for all these people.
Beautiful farmland should be protected.

I run a small Blackdowns retirement business for horses. The roads will be dangerous to ride on with extra traffic. The noise, lights and peloton will be horrendous. Green fields are being taken away from our beautiful quiet countryside. This impacts on the farming and increases exports.. The whole development should be stopped Now.

The proposed Black down development is totally inappropriate for the area which is right on the edge of an AONB.
country lanes will be be ruined,
. Good farmland ruined
. Difficult access for town's people to get to the countryside for recreation will be caused
.Access to Taunton will require more roads, bridges to be built
.sewage, electricity,water provision and more will ruin beautiful countryside and views

There should not be such a large housing development right next to the AONB and Thurlbear Wood. During 2014 floods this area was badly flooded. Building here would be catastrophic. It regularly floods at Orchard Portman, and this development will make things 10 times worse. Poor decision by the Crown Estate/Treasury to sell off good quality agricultural land (very cheaply) for housing. Use brown sites instead. Keep fields for growing food.

Taunton is overwhelmed with new developments that are already putting huge pressure on local resources. The impact of already approved projects such as Orchard Grove, must be reviewed, the impact on local communities and services has to be assessed and funded before any more large scale developments are considered.

Travelled via Corfe into Taunton daily for 20 years and traffic and queuing almost doubled the journey time.The road system will struggle with any extra traffic.Will the hospital be able to cope,it struggles now

Once we lose our farmland then it is gone forever, once we encroach on the blackdowns then further encroachments will occur. Calling this build a ‘village’ is nonsense. It’s huge. We don’t have the water to supply such a big estate.

Taunton is already at over capacity. Musgrove Park Hospital, Dentists, Schools. The frequent closures of the M5, and the resulting traffic pushed through small towns and country lanes. Adding another housing estate by removing when existing infrastructure has already failed is pure greed from those who do not live here. Removing green spaces is damaging to both wildlife and the humans who currently live here. Common sense should prevail. Taunton does not need this.

How can this huge development be acceptable?Not only is this a beautiful stretch of farmland that is very productive, it acts as a greenbelt to protect the lovely Somerset villages in the area. It would be an absolute sacrilege to destroy this irreplaceable farmland.
