The best and most versatile agricultural land in the Blackdown Vale should not be used for building new houses. Blackdown Vale is an AONB and should remain as productive agricultural land. Any new homes should be built on Brownfield sites or small infill sites, never on agricultural land. Before any housing is built in any area of the UK consideration should be given to the utilities, especially the supply of water and sewage treatment facilities.

The proposed plan would both ruin the local countryside, including the Blackdowns, and completely destroy the already overcrowded Taunton road system. My part of Taunton would come to a complete standstill around rush hours. All the surrounding country roads would become commuter race tracks. The Crown estate should be ashamed of even thinking that this would be a beneficial development.

This development will forever change the rural countryside, have a huge detrimental effect on the plants, wildlife and people that already live there. Taunton cannot possibly sustain a population increase of that scale. Our NHS services, Musgrove Park Hospital, our GP services are already at breaking point. Our schools will be massively impacted, our roads will get even more busy, and what jobs will there be? It's hard enough to find a job at the present time. Social Services will be overrun.

There isn't the infrastructure to support this development. The young people of the area are already struggling to find jobs, so where would all these new residents work, shop, be educated?

We should be regenerating brown field sites before contemplating developments on green field sites. As part of any strategic development there needs to be a clear and financially committed infrastructure development plan looking not only at the towns already congested road infrastructure but also at the infrastructure for schools, medical facilities including hospitals and doctors surgeries etc….

I live off of Dowsland Way. The traffic will be horrendous. Dowsland Way is almost a single track road, due to residents cars. The resident are entitled to park there. I can't imagine what it will be like with all the extra traffic. Also it will spoil the beautiful Blackdown Vale.
