The Blackdown area is an outstanding wildlife area and habitat, that is of massive importance to the local wildlif ; otters, bats, butterflies a diverse and rich habitat...build elsewhere! Don't destroy areas of outstanding natural beauty that have survived 100s of years supporting floral and fauna, its sacrilege!

The whole concept is scandalous. A cheap sale of Crown land and now a proposed New Town in an area of National Landscape...... IF, and I mean IF, such a level of housing is required then use the brownfield sites that are available.
If it goes ahead, make Taylor Wimpey put in all the roads, schools, shops, doctors, dentists, leisure spaces first. ONLY after the infrastructure is built think about granting planning permission for the housing.

The M5 was always supposed to be the borderline of development in Taunton Deane. The spread of new housing to the east and west of Taunton has already swamped the infrastructure of the town, so any more development in an already swamped area is idiotic. There is no business and trade in this area to provide enough sufficiently paid jobs. So workers would be forced onto the M5 for employment. The M5 is already under ridiculous pressure from holiday traffic to the greater West Country.

At present the M5 exists as a natural barrier to large scale development. Such a vast residential development would violently erode the rural character of the vale and the sensitive setting of the Blackdown Hills.

Dessimation of the character of the villages and hamlets
Lack of wider infrastructure to support traffic volume ie motorway access and A358 dualling.
Recurrent failures of council to ensure developers provide facilities ( ie GP surgeries, community centres) not only housing.
Somerset planning appears to have no capacity anyway! Outsourced isn’t it

the countryside should not be concreted over for ever when there is so much brownfield sites, abandoned housing, and refurbishment opportunities to be tackled first. the wildlife in this proposed new site and the nearby woodlands will flee and the natural biodiversity and balance will be lost forever. outrageous thinking and financial greed by those involved.

For ecology reasons alone this should not get the go ahead as it will be truncating two areas of ancient woodland and splitting up a wildlife corridor.
