head of planning with a local authority, I find this proposal outrageous.This is in effect a completely new town, ignoring basic open countyside/green spaceissues, landscapeand heritage issues relaring to Taunton Vale Taunton town itself, and with no consideration for the traffic implications further into the town. Sevices and schools, ,and good quality etc will be put under strain and good quality agricultural farmland dev oured. The area is also aflood

The UK is now one of the world's most nature-depleted countries. We should be looking to preserve the greenspaces that we have not contribute further to the problem through urban development.

West/North of M5 is THE development area - already lost much of it's beauty; has Transport etc established. East/South of M5 is PRIME Agricultural food production land, has proven links BACK TO ROMAN times, home to rare Wildlife, PRIME area for ‘escape to countryside, tranquility’ healthy pursuits. Taunton ALREADY has LOTS 'approved' development land W/N of M5 for the next 20 years but it is NOT being built on-WHY? Plenty Brownfields too. Develope W/North & what’s approved already.

T am completely opposed to this proposed development.
There is an ongoing development of 2500 new homes in the Comeytrowe/Trull area of Taunton that followed a similar large property development in the Monkton Heathfield area of Taunton.
Where is the actual requirement for an additional 7000 homes in the Taunton area coming from?
It would appear that Taylor Wimpey (a large building company) managed to purchase a large plot of prime productive agricultural land (in a previously registered area of

Firstly, Somerset County Council should seek to exploit the opportunities for brownfield developments within the existing planning curtilage. Secondly, any proposal to develop the former Crown Estates land should be a properly worked up plan addressing upgrades to roads, drainage, amenities (schools, medical centres etc).

This area is beautiful. Taunton is located in a valley with stunning countryside on all sides. We don’t want any more unattractive housing estates.
Where is the infrastructure? New doctors, extending the hospital, improved access into the town. South Road becomes congested now, without another 7,000+ houses which will probably have two cars per house. Our road system cannot take it.

At least 1.5m empty homes in England. And increasing at alarming rates (40 - 1000%, depending on place). Agricultural land is not empty. It is in use. Where does the food go??

The countryside round me has been ruined and Stratford upon Avon is completely unrecognisable. Don’t let another area of beauty in England be ruined by housing. Plenty of brown fill sites around - but not as cheap and easy for the developers
