I am a strong advocate for change, once it makes sense. At this point I have so many questions of which far outweigh any "answers" that have been provided. My biggest issue is the lack of communication and the blatant disengagement between said policy makers and parents. This in no way can be in the best interest of our future ...our children. I think that this proposed transition should be targeted towards the group of children who will now be entering Primary School in September.

Children should never be political or economic pawns, and parents and teachers should not feel that major educational changes are being thrust upon them. Parents need adequate time to prepare their children mentally, while schools need sufficient time to prepare for such significant changes. It should never be “them vs. us.” Education must be fair and accessible to all, and this system cannot meet that standard with such a rushed implementation.

The issue is not with the proposal itself, but rather with the timing of its implementation, which is impractical. It would be more appropriate to introduce this system starting with children entering Infants A, allowing them to become accustomed to it from the beginning of their schooling.

Any change of pedagogy and national assessment within an educational system should be done with extensive research, participation from all relevant parties, and pilot programs to test the proposed initiative in a particular cultural setting before implementation. None of these is being done. It is too rushed.
