September 2026 marks the start of a new educational era in Barbados. This change introduced by the MOE is untested, rushed and threatens the educational and social fabric of our country. We parents want answers and action. Our children and wards deserve every opportunity to succeed. Our voices must be heard.

New Testing Methods

Testing methods will change in 2026 for all students entering Class 3. These methods include, - Group project which is worth 50% of your child's final grade - Testing of Maths, English, Science and Social Studies over a 2 year period(Class 3 and 4)

Education is far too important for the MEdT to throw together some notched, haphazard plan that will have lasting impact on the generations to come. They deserve well thought out, piloted plans that are backed by research that are proven to be effective.
With the upcoming academic term commencing next month, the specifics of the proposed changes remain largely undefined. While we acknowledge that change is an inherent and crucial aspect of progress, the current implementation appears to be expedited, and comprehensive details have not been disseminated to all stakeholders for thorough understanding.
This is our children's future that is being determined. Time must be taken to plan any changes properly and ALL educators, parents and other concerned citizens must be included in the decision making process. To cancel the town hall meetings so that our input was cut short was a slap in the face. This is a democratic country not an autocratic one. Our voices matter!
This change is being implemented too hastily and I believe it will be a disservice to the students currently set to be a part of the pilot. Proper planning and implementation should take place with students now entering the junior school (class 1) so this initiative can be rolled out in a manner fair to all. I believe better consultation should take place with the teachers as well to ensure they are well equipped to handle the proposed changes.
Because education is the key to success.
This is important because it involves the foundation of our children's future.
I have a grandson in primary school and I am concerned about the rushed implementation especially without testing a sample group

Insufficient time and information have been provided for this transformation to positively affect children entering class 3 in September. Additional training of teachers, prior student preparation and guidance to parents are required to ensure that the first cohort of over 2500 students do not suffer through a process that is poorly defined, thoughtlessly implemented and unnecessarily rushed.
