Pickleball is enjoyed by so many! There are sound screens that could be installed to reduce the noise which neighbors hear.

The pickleball courts at Belfast City Park provide a much needed place
to play pickleball several months throughout the year. They are beloved and free.

The selfishness of the folks wanting the courts closed blows my mind! The least they could do is allow the courts to remain open until new courts can be built.

Pickleball has provided a sense of community and comraderie for greater than ten years now. This venue allows young people a place to get exercise and have fun away from devices while also providing older people with necessary activity and social connections. Social connection has been shown to be imperative in maintaining physical, cognitive and mental health.

Teens and young adults could be out doing drugs, getting pregnant, or worse, instead they’ve gathered at a community court to play an athletic, wholesome GAME! Take that away from them and the consequences that come from it will be on those who are simply whining.

We are so fortunate to have access to free, community courts! Save pickleball, save the idea and intent of city parks, save the access to family-friendly activities. Such a treasure.

The pickleball courts provide a place for all ages to play, connect and be active. And Belfast benefits from people coming to play and then enjoying the local businesses. Don't lose this great sport!!

Pickleball is a fun and easy sport to pick up any time - lots of kids and community members meet up to play a few times a week and I know we’d be missing out if it were just to be closed… then maybe jamming up the tennis courts or basketball court to play a make shift court. Not sure why it couldn’t stay open in the interim?

So many people enjoy this sport at the Belfast City park, it would be a significant loss to the local sporting opportunities for this clientele. It also represents a significant financial draw to Belfast as players from surrounding areas shop and dine regularly after playing.

We came to Belfast for a week in 2025 and partook in a wide variety of local activities. We ate lobsters, we had multiple trips to the old time soda fountain shop, we did a pirate treasure boat ride, got beers at the brewery, but the reason we will be back is that our boys loved walking to the park and playing pickleball for an hour every day. I want to come back and I’m not going to be able to convince my wife Belfast is the spot if she can’t enjoy her coffee while the boys go play pickleball.

Hoping & trusting our leaders & community members, pickleball players will continue to be respectful in working together on suggested solutions around the noise pollution & crowded parking issues in City Park . Thankful the YMCA is being included as possible short term courts & Walsh Park as future long term option that may benefit everyone as we practice patience navigating the realities.

When we were new to the community it was a great way to meet people. Pickleball is such a healthy activity. Better than having kids on screens or getting up to mischief. Please keep pickleball! It makes the park better!

This park is a true gem to Belfast, don’t let a few govern the masses. No common sense involved here.
