I know how dangerous it can be to walk under this bridge, especially when it’s raining and you end up completely soaked. Unfortunately, many people face this problem. Sometimes I feel that drivers simply don’t understand pedestrians. And if this route has been open for 35 years, why should it suddenly be closed? It really doesn’t seem fair. Does that mean nobody cared about this problem for the past 35 years? Please don’t make life harder for people who already have their own established ways

Walking to station from Box Lane is a nightmare, footpaths on one side of the main road only and no pedestrian crossing to get to Station on this side of roundabout. We moved to our present address 30 years ago and the access to station from the back was a big plus for us.

It feels like the only reason to change this access route is revenue protection. If this is the reason a gate should be built for this area. It makes no sense to close this access. It is going to force more people in to cars having a heavy impact on the environment. And add significant time on to people journeys. There is also no suitable and safe access to the station via the front entrance. Another crazy decision being made without the consultation of local residents!

This is a very useful pedestrian access to the station for residents of Roughdown, Felden and Beechwood Park. Closing it would greatly inconvenience many people.

I use this entrance to the station multiple times a week as I work in watford. I also go with my family to watch Watford FC every home game. This closure would mean I would have to find alternative way to commute and travel.

I am actually one of many disabled people who use this gate and closing of the gate would greatly affect our ability to travel. Surely The Equality Act 2010 must come into place as this blanket decision inadvertently discriminates against disabled people, as they have not given a safe accessible alternate route .

My daughter catches the train into London and lives on roughdown avenue. Access to the station from this route saves over a 30minute walk to the station.

I use the rear entrance when walking from home in Beechwood Park to use the train to travel into London and occasionally for a safe walking route into Boxmoor. As others have pointed out, the alt route via London Road is very unsafe under the very old railway bridge and takes much longer. NOTE ROUTE SHOWN ON THE MAP IS WRONG!!! No one is dodging train fares given the catchment area behind the station so why close it? Get everyone to prove they still live there and re-issue passes if necessary.

I have used the back gate to the station for 30 years. Since 2005 those of us who live behind have had key cards to facilitate access for which we had to pay a fee. We have not been given the safety issues that have caused this decision to be made. The route suggested on the map does not actually exist as there is no footpath and the alternative involves crossing three busy roads and negotiating a narrow path under the bridge. As a blind person who now uses a guide dog, this is just unsafe.

The reason we moved to this area was for the access to the train station, we have invested a lot onto our home after moving in and this will be utterly devastating to us losing the train station access from our road
