We are asking our local councillor to support a proposal to Hertfordshire County Council Highways for road improvements at the junction of Box Lane and Beechwood Park, including speed cameras on the approach to the Beechwood Park roundabout from both directions or another effective traffic calming measure.

Residents of Beechwood Park and anyone visiting friends and family there know how difficult and unsafe it can be to turn right onto Box Lane from Beechwood Park. The
visibility is poor because of the hedges and the slight curve in the road, and vehicles often travel too fast after passing the Copperbeach Park roundabout towards Bovingdon. 

That combination creates a dangerous situation for everyone using the junction.

This is not just a matter of inconvenience. When drivers cannot see clearly and traffic is moving too quickly, the risk of harm rises for residents, visitors, and anyone passing through the area. We have already seen enough  troubling incidents and accidents, which as far as we are aware have resulted in close calls rather than serious or life threating injury. Local people have shared their own experiences and concerns, and the message is clear: this junction needs attention before someone is badly hurt or worse still a fatality.

We believe the council should act now to improve safety at this point on our road network. Whether through speed cameras or another proven traffic calming solution, the goal must be the same: slower traffic, better visibility, and a safer turn for the people who live in and visit Beechwood Park.
