Freedom of movement within the site of the school during recreational times is not something that should be removed from students unless therr is an incident making it paramount for the safety of the school population. This action will not improve the quality of life within the school or promote a positive sense of community within the school. The rational of this action was not shared with parents to recieve there views before being actioned. The action should be reversed.

Because I have had several grandchildren go to QES, past and present, I think its good for the older ones there to be able to check in with their new starter cousins to see if their okay, and in the big wide world we have to learn to accept and mix with everyone ?

I think the zoning is absolutely stupid my daughter has been at the school 2 years and has lots of friends in other years that she has formed strong friendships with and now she cant mix with them and her friends and her are now suffering like i am sure alot of the kids are, surely its important for there futures to be convident mixing with others both older and younger it was handled completely understand unprofessional by the school as we should have had some warning this was going to happen.

Another parent here... our son was told off by a member of staff for crossing zones on their way back from a GCSE clinic. This just a few days after attending the brilliant evening last week about how the school is assisting the students with extra clinics and more. We came away very impressed with what the school has organised to support GCSE students. Such a shame that our child was told off for putting in the effort. If this happens again we will be complaining!

As a parent I am disappointed that the zones have been introduced. Surely mixing with other ages is all part of life and at some point our young people will have to integrate into a society without zones: college, work etc.Surely it’s better to equip them now with the social skills they will need. Also if there is an issue with inter year bullying this should be tackled head on rather than introducing a rule which punishes everyone.

I disagree with the zones. It isolates children and could potentially cause more anxiety to certain children.
What happens if a child is being bullied by a child in the same year and then they are unable to find a safe space away from them?
What happens if I child only has friends that are in other year groups, are the left alone at breaks?
What happens if a child is unsettled and they want to find support from a sibling in another year? They have to struggle until the end of the day?

As a parent of two children at QES (Year 7&9), the ‘zones’ are literally all I hear about. I completely agree with my children (and all the other comments I have read from other parents and on here). The restrictions and changes being implemented are making the school feel like an inner city school. My son used to spend all his lunchtime walking laps around the grounds. I also feel sad that they can’t see each other at lunch. I hope this new system will be reviewed.

The zones are rubbish since we have barely any available toilets at studio and so crowded with people

It’s stupid there’s no where to go I have to sit on the floor at breaks and lunch times I can’t see other years and it’s not helping anyone it’s making everything worse its not helping anyone by “giving them somewhere to go at break and lunch” because lots of people don’t have friends in there year and need to socialise in others years. I truly think the teachers should think about this and take responsibility for there mistakes and grow up and realize how they messed up.

Signing as a concerned parent. QES has existed successfully as a multi-site school for generations without the need for these draconian measures. The space within the grounds is one of the huge selling points of the school. Now the kids are hemmed in like cattle, split up from their friends and siblings, unable to escape bullies within their own year group, and not getting enough physical activity. This is not the right solution.
