Re: Revitalization of 13th Street West and Downtown Prince Albert

To the Mayor and Members of City Council,

We, the undersigned residents, business owners, and supporters of the Prince Albert community, respectfully ask the City of Prince Albert to take immediate action to help revitalize the 13th Street West corridor and surrounding downtown area.

Uplift Thrift opened its doors with a vision that extends beyond operating a business. Our goal is to provide affordable goods, support individuals and families facing financial hardship, and contribute positively to our community. We believe that a thriving downtown benefits everyone.

Unfortunately, the current condition of 13th Street West presents significant challenges. Deteriorating sidewalks, neglected infrastructure, and a lack of investment in the area discourage foot traffic and make it difficult for businesses to grow and attract visitors. The condition of our streets and sidewalks also impacts accessibility and safety for seniors, families with strollers, and individuals with mobility challenges.

We are asking the City of Prince Albert to:

1. Repair and replace damaged sidewalks along 13th Street West.
2. Improve street cleanliness and maintenance throughout the downtown core.
3. Invest in beautification initiatives, including murals, landscaping, and public art.
4. Work collaboratively with local businesses to develop a long-term revitalization plan for the area.
5. Increase efforts to promote downtown Prince Albert as a safe, welcoming, and vibrant destination for residents and tourists alike.

Businesses like Uplift Thrift are doing their part by investing in the community, supporting those in need, and helping breathe new life into downtown Prince Albert. However, meaningful change requires a partnership between local businesses, residents, and municipal leadership.

We believe that 13th Street West has tremendous potential. With proper investment and support, this area can become a place that Prince Albert residents are proud to visit, shop, and gather.

By signing this petition, we urge the City of Prince Albert to recognize the importance of revitalizing our downtown and to make 13th Street West a priority.

Together, we can build a stronger, safer, and more vibrant Prince Albert for future generations.

Sincerely,

UPLIFT THRIFT

We need to pay attention to this area of the city. Anyone travelling through PA from other areas would be horrified to see the state of the downtown area, especially 13th St. It used to be a very acceptable place to shop. Our downtown used to be beautiful but through neglect & disinterest in beautifying the area it

I remember walking these streets when I was young . Kresges, buying donuts and mini Mariannes at the bakery. all on the way home from the pool. Things change over time but time is not an excuse for disrepair. This needs to be fixed for all citizens in the city

I am old enough to remember when 13th St West was a very well taken care of and had many business. Kresgies, McLeods, J&k Cafe etc. Never once did we feel unsafe. Great to see Uplift Thrift start the process.

We need to focus on areas of the city that are very run down. Our downtown core needs to get shifted back into back into action. Especially now that the mall is being bought . Start to liven up the city center again!!!
