Bus overcrowding is a big problem in the Marlborough community. It is important for buses to not be overcrowded because overcrowded buses can cause dangers to students, challenges and unsafe working conditions for bus drivers, and other hazards like flying objects or fights. 26% of students said they “often” have to share a seat with 1 or more students. 69% percent of students said that they also believe bus overcrowding is an issue. 20% of students, (also the highest vote,) rated their own bus overcrowding issue a 4 out of 5 in how bad it is.

I have spent my mornings watching students climb into these packed buses and it confirms exactly why we started this fight. I am currently putting together a formal report for the school committee based on the stories you have shared with me. Your accounts of these unsafe rides are the most powerful tool we have to push for a change.

Seeing this momentum grow proves that our community is finally ready to acknowledge the daily dangers students face on these buses. I never thought we would see this level of interest when I first started worrying about my younger brother having to stand in the aisle every morning.

The boys and girls club go to my bus even though my bus is not the boy and girls club bus and now some kids have to sit on the floor
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY KIDS SITTING IN THE AISLE. THIS IS A MASSIVE FIRE HAZARD AND THE SCHOOL NEEDS TO SEND ANOTHER BUS
my daughter comes home every day saying she had to squeeze into a seat with two other kids its not right and it is not safe at all

The bus driver can barely see the mirrors because theres so much noise and kids standing in the aisles. Unsafe.
