A boy who pled guilty to assault with a bladed weapon has been handed a 3-year restraining order and a referral order.
In his sentencing remarks, Judge Ian Laurie Casey said the boy is bright, still young, and capable of learning, despite the fact that he was remanded in custody for 3 months prior to sentencing.
The judge does not believe the offender is dangerous.
Due to the youth offender exemption from the Unduly Lenient Sentence Scheme, so far, the victim has not been able to appeal this quite frankly abhorrent decision. She deserves justice, and he deserves to go to prison for what he did. The police even stated that the tactics he employed were more commonly seen in adult domestic abusers.

Why are boys being allowed to attempt to murder girls and then being let off with a slap on the wrist when they're clearly a danger? It's sending a very bad message to boys that they can be violent towards girls and women with no consequences. This boy is clearly dangerous and the judge needs disbarring.
