Human rights violations must be addressed by doctors. Prisoners dying of hepatitis in Pakistani prisons is completely unacceptable. Children getting HIV infections from hospitals is deplorable.

Following the model AMA’s leadership in civic issues APPNA must mature into civic adulthood. Our professional civic voice and role is critical for our own identity and effective discharge our duty as educated members of a civil society. This defines the center core of our professional oath

Human rights are important to me because they uphold the principles of dignity, equality, respect, and justice for every individual. As a physician, these values guide my professional and personal commitment to compassion, and advocating for a more equitable society.

Creating a Standing Committee on Human Rights would strengthen APPNA’s commitment to humanitarian values and medical ethics. It would provide a permanent platform to advocate for the protection of human rights and respond to issues affecting healthcare and vulnerable populations.
