Subject: Petition for the Establishment of an APPNA Standing Committee for Human Rights

We the physicians in USA are very influential and aware people in our community , we need to talk and make people aware of the human rights abuses happening in Pakistan.
A standing Human Rights Committee would provide a structured, non-partisan, and principled framework to address issues affecting human rights , human dignity, healthcare access, medical neutrality, and the rights of individuals and vulnerable populations; wherever they occur. Being physicians we safeguard human life and it’s also our job to stand up against injustices done to humans. This Comittee could help APPNA exert her influence over law makers in US and Pakistan and elsewhere as well.
Very personal but I am going to say this,whenever I was going to operate somebody and he was under general anesthesia , it was my responsibility to safeguard his rights and welfare; so watching for human rights is part of medical mission.
Human rights and democracy in true spirit
Human rights violations must be addressed by doctors. Prisoners dying of hepatitis in Pakistani prisons is completely unacceptable. Children getting HIV infections from hospitals is deplorable.

Human rights issues are apolitical and have been conveniently ignored since the inception of APPNA. We as the Doctors in US must take action to stop any further violations in Pakistan.
