My hope is that Manresa is treated mostly as conservation land, as well as a public park. Not Disney Land. The developers should not have carte blanche. People are concerned about traffic, as they should. But the greater environmental impact of what the private developers are considering -- and whatever they might do in the future -- has not been addressed whatsoever.

When MW purchased this property, the information shared with the community emphasized generosity, environmental stewardship, respect for nature, and consideration for the surrounding neighborhood. Those commitments were an important part of gaining public trust.

You kids today want to build a fancy park everywhere! Back in my day, we liked our water polluted and our air thick with the sweet, choking smell of progress! If a building didn’t belch black smoke that turned the neighborhood laundry gray, we didn’t want it! And what's this about unlocking two miles of shoreline? Who needs the water? Long Island Sound is filled with horseshoe crabs, and those things are just armor-plated spiders looking to steal your socks!

I went to initial community meetings at our HV Club house w/the owners. The proposal was presented as a Nature Preserve, park & educational site; not as a hotel, pub or amphitheater site. I am concerned already by the downing of so many trees & the construction of parking lots. I worry about the impact for the birds, deer and other wildlife who call Manresa home. I enjoy the beauty of the marsh as it is. Homeowners bought here for beauty of the area. Woodward can't take the extra traffic!!!

I strongly oppose the application as it contradicts Manresa's initial proposals/application as a 501c3 -- There should be nothing commercial about this "gift". This is not a gift but now a clear burden for everyone in Norwalk--and not just the surrounding neighborhoods.

This overblown design has become a commercially-driven monstrosity that worsens traffic in Rowayton and appears to abandon the safe habitat there for osprey, other birds, deer and wildlife. The original vision was benign, educational and thoughtful.

The current plan will severely affect the quality of life for the surrounding neighborhoods and diminish the enjoyment of our home. It already takes 15+ minutes just to get get to I95. The projected additional car traffic will overwhelm the existing streets and likely cause gridlock.
Why do we need this?! It was originally pitched as a nature preserve and not it’s turning into a high volume commercial destination

The correct sequence of events is that the scale of the development is a) clearly defined and then b) INDEPENDENT traffic studies, and depending on the ask, independent environmental impact studies are done and then when the Planning and Zoning Commission have all the facts intelligent, informed decisions can be made and consent given. Granting a special zoning district beforehand is improper and could lead to some big regrets later on.

This entire endeavor has been a Trojan horse fleecing of Norwalk citizens, including gaslighting students at local schools who are not sophisticated enough to understand the larger issues of traffic impacts (and related safety concerns for EMS access to the area on already over congested and horribly managed Norwalk city streets along this corridor), property values, quality of life of residents in the area, tax impacts long term, crime, etc). No real traffic/impact study? Criminal negligence.
