My main concerns are crowding and the increase in traffic that would be generated in our local area, where roads are already congested daily, and development has gotten completely out of control.

The area is a wild life haven. It should never be developed into a money making resort. Woodward Ave is barely passable and is flooded frequently . Area can not support the traffic the project would create. Only one way in and out. This plan is outrageous and should never be allowed.

The commercialization of Manresa would present a logistical nightmare and there don’t seem to be any effort to truly study the impact much less considering how much could be realistically managed and would the mitigation get out in front of the development. I think an entertainment complex would be antithetical to the beauty of the Norwalk Islands and wildlife.

The public believed this to be an altruistic endeavor allowing access to nature & shoreline to area residents. This has been proven to be false & deceitful.
As a future Norwalk resident & healthcare provider it is clear that should the P&Z committee approve SDMW zoning: Traffic, mobile exhaust pollution on vulnerable populations, EMT access, noise etc. would have a devastating effect on Norwalk & all area residents & wildlife. Is this the legacy that The McChords & P&Z committee want to leave?

I live in Shorefront Park. I was at the initial meetings with the Mchord's when it was all about offering access to "Nature" to the "Region". At that point, none of the Hotel / Parking/ Entertainment Services were discussed. Just nature trails and education. What appeared to be an altruistic attempt turned in to a for profit bait and switch. We strongly oppose this plan.

My daughter and family who live in Harbor View had spoken many times to the people who want this project. It was presented as saving this shoreline and create a park for enjoyment, nature sites, and other low key ideas. THEY LIED. The value of their house will be affected by this monster Hotel, pool, restaurants etc. along with everybody else who lives in the vicinity including Woodward .

While I support the creation of the park with facilities for low-impact community recreation and waterfront access, I do not support an open-ended zoning change that would allow the creation of commercial ventures that would clog the already limited and narrow access roads to the area.

Before redevelopment proceeds any further, the public should be provided with clear evidence that all legacy waste materials, including fly ash and other contaminants such as PCBs, PAHs, heavy metals associated with decades of coal- and oil-fired power generation, have been thoroughly characterized, remediated, and demonstrated not to threaten surrounding waters, marine habitat, or the productive shellfish beds of Norwalk Harbor. Is there a long-term monitoring program?

I feel that Manresa Island would make a beautiful open park with walking paths educational programs about the wild life and the Sound our fishing and shellfish industry. Maybe a campground. Keep the open space
