The Chinese came to Canada in the 1850s with 17,000 workers to help build the railroad which helped build this country. Note that the railroad was a source of transport and commerce and all major cities were able to grow because of the railroad. Subsequently, the Chinese built businesses to support the local communities and later generations more became professionals to contribute their labour and smarts to progress corporations. It is important to keep part of the Chinese heritage intact.

Our family grew up in this neighborhood. The people have worked hard to retain this area, it has grown and continue to be the center of Chinese heritage. The people need to continue to live and enjoy the security of Quartier Chinois.

Montreal’s Chinatown is important to the Chinese community. I was brought up in Montreal when my family immigrated to Canada. It’s a place where they can celebrate their ethnicity, customs, & meet alike friends. It’s where people can buy & eat Chinese specialties. I fully support rejuvenate Chinatown.
