There is no sane rationale for this project. It will cost far too much, cause disruption to too many lives/livelihoods and return absolutely nothing.

We need our farm land but we don’t need an unnecessary luxury project. No to ALTO. Support our farmers.

Why are they moving so fast on something we have not all agreed to. They dont have a clear mandate, and when it all falls through how will THEY return the land to it's original state. Somebody has to make this stop, asap, like yesterday

Farmland is essential for food security. There is a lack of transparency in communication and a poor business case. Bisecting farmland and roadways to run a train when you already have Via is a poor use of monetary resources and would cause undue harm to working farms, livelihoods and residences.

The devastation to animal habitats, farmland, migratory routes, communities and waterways are just some of the reasons ALTO is a BAD idea.

Because food security means national sovereignty!! Born and raised on a farm, raised my family on a multi-generational dairy farm. Once the farms are gone, where will the food come from?? Even more important than ever, with the huge increase in the population!! And living on a farm is the best life of all!! Furthermore, the extreme financial deficit in Canada can not afford this multi-million dollar boondoggle!!

We need to protect our farms and farmers now, and in the future. The Alto train will destroy valuable farms & jeopardize our food supply

The Alto track will cause significant disruption to agriculture and communities. From a 200 ft wide fenced corridor that will disrupt farm operations and food production, and movement of farm equipment and emergency vehicles. In addition the route will disrupt or redirect/cut off a significant number of waterways which would affect areas both north and south of the tracks regarding water supply/water table and flooding which would have a detrimental effect upon agriculture and homes.

I am writing as a resident of South Frontenac Township, Ontario, in the federal riding of Lanark-Frontenac , to request that the AGRI Committee undertake a study of the proposed ALTO high-speed rail project's impacts on agriculture and rural communities. I live on my family’s 3rd generation farm. This area has many small mixed farms, farms that feed Kingston and the surrounding area. The Alto high speed train will destroy many of these farms, and as you know farmland is finite and precious.

I am concerned about the potential loss and fragmentation of farmland, disruption to farming operations, impacts on soil and water resources, and the ongoing uncertainty facing rural property owners and communities.
I respectfully ask that the committee examine these issues and hear directly from affected farmers, landowners, agricultural organizations and rural municipalities.

It is vital that there be a proper agricultural study of the consequences of any high speed rail route prior to funding decisions and expropriation.

This plan will add to food insecurity with the destruction of over 500 farms. It will add minimal 10k into homelessness . And there is lives at risk building on volatile Lada Clay in land slide zones and a flood plain

The agency known as Alto has been proven to deliberately lie and mislead the Canadian public regarding the building of an HSR train. This project is flawed on so many levels. Please read all of Erin Durant’s research and that of Citizen Research about Alto. This entire thing is a sham and the worst disaster ever undertaken by the Liberal government. We, the people, who have done the work to understand this project, offered alternatives, and fought hard to educate others, deserve better from you.

Wish to see better VIA serve, by expanding along the existing corridor and including benefit and supporting local and rural communities. Concerned about route impact on agricultural and rural communities. Concerned about cost at a time where we are already committing to better national initiatives.

Cost, lack of meanful consultation, impacts on agriculture and rural sectors along route. Use VIA and would do so more, if it provided more reliable and cost effective service.

The rural farmers do not deserve to be treated this way.
These citizens feed everyone.
Our country cannot afford this.
Our children will be strapped we have an affordability crisis on our hands.
