We ask the Township Board of Supervisors to rename the new softball fields at Potomac Park in Mount Bethel after Ariel Beltrano, in honor of his many years of service to UMBT girls’ softball.
For about 17 years, Ariel served as a coach and local administrator for the program. He was known for his community-mindedness, his humor, and the example he set through volunteerism. He gave his time and energy to help build and support girls’ softball in a way that touched many people in our community.
Ariel recently passed away after a battle with cancer, and this naming would be a meaningful way to recognize the impact he had on the program and on those around him. The new softball fields at Potomac Park in Mount Bethel are a fitting place to carry his name, because they reflect the sport and the community he supported for so long.
By signing this petition, we are asking the Township Board of Supervisors to show appreciation for Ariel’s long support of UMBT girls’ softball and to preserve his memory in a place that will continue to bring families together for years to come. We hope the township will consider this request and honor Ariel Beltrano in a lasting and public way.
I am signing this because he was a wonderful person and a great coach. I didn’t grow up with him really as my coach but I grew up watching my sister and his daughter be coached by him. As well as one of my last years playing his other daughter coached me. I am now 20 years old and if they could get this to be done in his honor would be wonderful. May he rest in peace and may his family find closure during these hard times.
