We need justice for Kevin Flanagan, and we need our MPs, our MLA, and our Government to make sure the charges are not simply erased because he has passed away. Kevin’s family and loved ones are grieving, and they should not also have to watch accountability disappear.
This case has already caused deep pain in our community. Last winter, Kevin was assaulted by his neighbour over a snow-in-the-driveway dispute. According to the account shared by those close to the family, the neighbour had a large knife, attacked Kevin, and caused serious injuries to his face and arm. Police, ambulance, and fire department crews were called to the scene, and the offender was arrested. A restraining order was put in place, but it was breached soon after. The offender was then restricted from coming into Montrose for several kilometers and could not remain in his house.
Now, as of Friday, September 25, 2026, the charges have been dropped and the offender is back living next door. That is unacceptable to those of us who believe that violent actions must still carry consequences, even when the victim is no longer here to see the case through. A person does not become less responsible because time has passed or because the victim has died.
We are asking our MPs, our MLA, and our Government to step in and review this outcome. Kevin deserves dignity, his family deserves answers, and our community deserves to know that serious violence will not be brushed aside. Enough is enough.

Our family is dealing with the terrible grief of losing Kevin, this only compounds it. Kevin deserves justice!!! Please help out family get justice for Kevin
Just because someone passes does not excuse the action of a person facing charges he is a danger to the public and needs to be held accountable. #justiceforkevin
Kevin was a friend of mine ..What happened to Kevin ,should not go unpunished because of his passing.Which some of this misuse of justice may have created or helped cause his passing ... Trauma is an under studied creator of turmoil in anyone's life. He was a very loved human and did not deserve to be attacked ( especially with a weapon ) over some snow removal. Justice system is at fault in all this...Someone needs to be held accountable for this crime.
Dropping charges because someone passed away and letting a criminal back to the neighborhood and in the house next to Kevin's wife where he can terrorize her again and knowing her husband is no longer there to protect her is just asinine! What is wrong with this justice system!
Criminals have to be dealt with no matter who the victim is. No charges continues to victimize Kevin and his grieving family.
Because I know way too many people in my community who don't feel safe in their own homes because of situations like this. We need stronger laws, and much larger consequences for dangerous ill-minded people.
He's my father in law and this is a huge injustice.

Kevin was a co-worker of mine and the nicest one of the nicest men I’ve ever met. He tried to be the better man with his neighbour and was attacked and in my opinion the neighbour tried to murder Kevin, how he is let free and able to go back to the house, with Kevin’s Widowed wife all alone in their house. This is frankly outrageous. Some sort of justice must be served.
