We ask people everywhere to recognize INTERNATIONAL “HALFWAY THERE” DAY in June as a worldwide celebration of the year’s midpoint. By then, we are halfway through the year, and that is a moment worth marking together.
This day would give people a chance to stop, breathe, and notice how far they have come. It is a time to celebrate what we have already accomplished in the first half of the year, and to look ahead with hope to the rest of the year to come. That kind of pause matters. Life moves fast, and many of us never take the time to feel proud of what we have done.
The spirit of the day can be simple and open to everyone. A nice big dinner with friends and family, or with the people we have spent the first half of the year with and want to spend the rest of the year with, would be a beautiful tradition. Like Thanksgiving, it can be a time to share what we are thankful for and to speak about our accomplishments so far. Like New Year’s, it can also be a time to set goals, make plans, and start the second half of the year with fresh energy.
This does not need to belong to one country or one culture. It can belong to everyone. We believe INTERNATIONAL “HALFWAY THERE” DAY can bring people together in a hopeful, joyful, and meaningful way, and we ask the world to celebrate it.
