We ask the Indian government to issue a 10-year visitor visa to Canadian citizens of Indian origin, especially former Indian citizens, so they can visit India more easily and with dignity.
Canada already offers long visitor visas to Indian travelers, and India should extend the same practical courtesy to people who were once Indian citizens and now hold Canadian passports. Many of these people still have strong ties to India through family and friends. Many also continue to own property in India, including family homes, joint property with siblings, and corporate property. Some still receive government pension payments into existing bank accounts in India. For all these reasons, visits to India are often not optional or rare; they are part of real family, financial, and social responsibilities.
Some Canadian citizens of Indian origin can use OCI, which allows smoother entry to India on a Canadian passport. But many have not applied for OCI, or do not want to, for personal reasons. Right now, they are often left to apply for a visitor visa again and again, sometimes every six months or every year, even when their need to travel is long-term and ongoing. That is difficult, costly, and unnecessary.
A 10-year visitor visa would make travel simpler for those who still love and respect Bharat-Bhumi, their mother land. It would honor the deep connection many former Indian citizens still have with India, and it would make it easier for them to come for family visits, emergencies, property matters, and social commitments without repeated hardship.
We believe the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Indian government should act with fairness and common sense. This is a request for respect, convenience, and humane treatment for people who continue to care deeply about India. --Jay Hind.
it is convenience for PIO and it eliminate thr grequent need to apply for visas
