We, the undersigned, formally record our concern at the repeated activation of the building fire alarm system without any fire or emergency, and without any explanation given to residents.
The impact on families is serious. Night-time activations are repeatedly waking young children and babies, who are then frightened and unable to settle, leaving parents and children exhausted the following day. Beyond the disruption, residents are now ignoring the alarm altogether. In a genuine fire this puts lives at risk and defeats the purpose of the system.
We request:
- Inspection of the fire alarm system by the DCD-approved maintenance contractor within 7 days, identifying the root cause.
- A written report to all residents within 14 days stating the cause, the corrective action and the completion date.
- A permanent fix, with written confirmation that the system has been tested and re-certified.
- Advance notice of any planned testing; a same-day explanation after any unplanned activation; and a named 24/7 point of contact for alarm incidents.
- Confirmation that the building holds a current DCD-approved fire alarm maintenance contract and certificate.
If no substantive response is received within 14 days, the undersigned will escalate to Dubai Civil Defence and to RERA / Dubai Land Department.
The biggest concern is that frequent false alarms have made us start ignoring them, which could be extremely dangerous in a real emergency. Also, kids are often home alone while parents are working, and they naturally panic as they are unable to understand whether the alarm is real or false. This is no longer just an inconvenience; it is a genuine safety issue that really needs to be addressed on priority.
