It is imperative that East Norman remains an agricultural area. We must protect farmers’ rights and our clean water for future generations. Development threatens this goal and must stop.

We need to keep our water supply protected and stop urban sprawl towards our lake

We need all hands on deck to protect the watershed - rural Norman and the wildlife. This over development must stop. Data centers should be banned period - preservation over profit.

East Norman is such a large portion of the Lake Thunderbird watershed. More development will cause tremendous harm to the health of the environment and watershed. Wildlife also needs to be protected.

I live here and don’t want land destroyed, wildlife disturbed, agriculture torn apart, water polluted, and the quiet turned into chaos.

Life is unsustainable without water. And east Norman is in the middle of the water shed that drains into Lake Thunderbird.

The watershed is the land that drains into the lake. When rain falls onto the developed land, it creates runoff full of toxins that then drain into our lake- which is where we get our drinking water. There's more to it than just this, though. Developed land can't absorb any of the rain water so you lose the natural absorption of the undeveloped land. I would love to see everyone unite to protect our watershed aka rural east Norman.

We must continue to protect rural east Norman’s farm and ranch land…and our water quality and supply…by limiting development east of 24th Avenue. Norman made that commitment decades ago, yet development pressure has continued to push east. Now the proposed turnpike threatens to accelerate that pressure; not just by paving over rural land, but through new interchanges, service roads, and additional land acquisition that could open even more of east Norman to development.

I sign because water is necessary for life. The only way to have economic stability is to have a steady supply of safe drinking water. Ecology should never be seen as the enemy of progress, because progress is not possible without a safe and healthy environment.

Because of everything mentioned and the new turnpike is crossing my land.

I believe that it is essential and absolutely necessary to protect east Norman from any zoning changes that would allow more than one single family home per ten acres (current zoning) in order to protect and preserve the important watershed, aquifer and Lake Thunderbird, the primary source of drinking water for the City of Norman.

I feel it is important to protect our watershed and our agricultural areas to act as a filter/sponge for the urban city dwellers as much as the rural parts of the community.
