We call on the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) to review its position on HND holders not becoming registered builders and to make the process clear, fair, and properly communicated.

At the moment, many people are left confused and frustrated by the notice, which was very short and gave little explanation. This affects hardworking HND holders who have trained for a technical profession and want a clear path to registration and a chance to serve their communities as qualified builders. When a rule or notice is not explained well, it creates uncertainty, shuts people out, and weakens trust in the system.

Building is too important to be handled with poor communication. Nigeria needs skilled builders, safe structures, and a registration process that is transparent and easy to understand. If there are requirements HND holders must meet, CORBON should state them plainly. If the policy needs review, then that review should be open, fair, and guided by merit, not by confusion or silence.

We therefore ask CORBON to provide a fuller public explanation, review the restriction on HND holders becoming registered builders, and ensure that the pathway into the profession is clear and accessible to all qualified candidates. People who have invested in their education deserve respect, clarity, and a fair opportunity to contribute to the building profession.
