זהו אחד ממרכזי הספורט והפנאי היחידים העומדים לרשות תושבי אפרת. חוגים רבים הפועלים תחת המתנ"ס מתקיימים במגרש, כאשר העלות היא כ־300 ש"ח בחודש עבור כל משתתף. לאן בדיוק הולך הכסף?
הגדר החיה סביב המגרש לא נגזמה, והיא מפריעה לפעילות חוג הבייסבול ולחוג הפוטבול האמריקאי. הגדר עצמה חלודה, בולטת לתוך המסלול, ויש בה קצוות חדים רבים המסכנים את השחקנים.
כמובן, כל אלה מתגמדים לעומת החורים והתפרים החשופים במשטח הדשא הסינתטי, שכבר גרמו למספר פציעות. המצב רק הולך ומחמיר בשל ההזנחה. מדובר במצב מסוכן עבור בני הנוער של אפרת, ופציעה חמורה עלולה להתרחש בכל פעם שמישהו משחק במגרש.
תושבים רבים פנו במהלך השנים למתנ"ס ולמועצה וביקשו שיעשו משהו בנידון, אך נראה שהפניות נפלו פעם אחר פעם על אוזניים ערלות, כאשר שני הגופים מפנים אצבע זה כלפי זה בנוגע לשאלה מי אחראי בסופו של דבר.
אנו מבינים כי נושא מענק להקמת מגרש חדש נמצא בתהליך, וכי עמותה פרטית המפעילה אחד מהחוגים הסכימה לתרום כסף להנחת דשא סינתטי חדש. עם זאת, לוח הזמנים אינו ידוע, והחלפת המגרש עלולה לקחת שנים. בכל יום שעובר, המגרש ממשיך להידרדר.
לכן אנו קוראים לפעולה מיידית:
1. לתקן באופן מיידי את החורים במשטח ואת התפרים העלולים לגרום לפציעות ברגליים, בקרסוליים, בכפות הרגליים, ברצועות ובגידים — שלא לדבר על פציעות הנגרמות מכדורי בייסבול שקופצים בצורה בלתי צפויה ופוגעים בשחקנים בראש.
2. לתקן את חלקי הגדר הבולטים והמסוכנים, בעלי הקצוות המשוננים והחלודה.
3. לבצע תחזוקה שוטפת של שטח המגרש, כולל פינוי אשפה וגיזום וטיפול בצמחייה.
4. לתקן את גופי התאורה והנורות שאינם פועלים.
תושבים רבים שאיתם שוחחנו מוכנים לסייע בתיקון הגדר ובביצוע עבודות גינון, אם יסופקו להם הכלים הדרושים, או בתמורה להחלפת שירותים או לתשלום סמלי עבור הזמן והעבודה שלהם.
אם הסיבה לכך שהעבודות טרם בוצעו היא מחסור בכסף, אנו קוראים הן למתנ"ס והן למועצה להפסיק לגבות תשלום עבור החוגים עד שייאסף מספיק כסף כדי לתקן את המגרש כראוי.

Attention Efrat Mayor Dovi Shefler and Matnas Head Avraham Pollack
The Gefen migrash needs immediate repair! This is one of the only recreation centers for the people of Efrat. Many Chugim operated under the umbrella of the Matnas are located at the field which costs around a 300 shekel monthly charge for each attendee. Where is the money going exactly? The hedges have not been trimmed and interfere with the Baseball and The American Football Chug. The fence is rusty, juts out onto the track, and has many sharp edges endangering players. Of course this is rather meaningless in comparison to the holes and exposed seams in the turf which have caused multiple injuries. The situation is only getting worse due to negligence. It is a dangerous situation for the youth of Efrat, serious injury can happen every time a person plays on the field. Many residents have asked the Matnas and Moetza over the years to do something, but it seems to have continually fallen on deaf ears with both organizations pointing at each other to who is ultimately responsible. While we understand a new field grant is something that has been worked on and a private amutah that runs one of the chugim has agreed to contribute money to putting down new turf, the timeline is unknown and can take years for the field to be replaced. Each passing day the migrash falls into further disrepair. The following is an immediate call for action.
1. Immediately repair the holes in the field and seams that can cause leg, ankle, foot, ligament and tendon injuries, not to mention injuries from baseballs taking bad bounces and hitting players in the head.
2. Repair the parts of the fence that are sticking out with jagged edges, rusty and dangerous.
3. Supply routine maintenance to the grounds including trash and foliage.
4. Fix the non working light bulbs
Many residents we have spoken to are open to helping repair the fence and do landscaping if they have the tools or are willing to barter or receive a small stipend for their time.
If the reason this has yet to happen is due to money, then we call on both the Matnas and Moetza to relinquish charging money for chugim until enough money is raised to properly repair the field.

I live in the zayit and my kids play baseball and football. The field is very overgrown and the turf is in bad need of replacement. We pay to use the field. It’s about time it is fixed for t he safety of our children.
We live in the Zayit, and my son plays in the flag football chug, it is not safe!
The field is a disaster. Somebody recently lost teeth because a ball hit them in the face after hitting a hole. There is a sinkhole in the outfield that somebody could shatter an ankle if stepped in. The field needs to be better maintained and shouldn't be left to the residents to improve.
My son plays baseball here. We live in the Zayit, but this is the largest field. We need it repaired.
I play and practice on this field and it’s very dangerous to play on. It needs to get fixed as soon as possible.
I play here all the time and besides for the holes being dangerous, it really upper lifts my family and friends nights every night
This is very unsafe and must be fixed.

My son plays in the baseball and flag football chugim - as well as the Efrat Baseball travel team chug - so he is there multiple days per week. He has mentioned many times how dangerous the turf is. The Matnas must act immediately to remedy this problem. It can no longer wait until another serious injury occurs (in addition to the person who lost teeth), which, if nothing is done urgently, will almost assuredly happen, chas v'chalila.
