This is ridiculous that this issue with the hot water has been going on for so long. We pay a pretty penny to live at chamisa, and hot water is a basic utility. The university should at least make a good-will effort of some sort.

I pay a lot and take out loans that I pay my self to live in on campus housing. The water situation has been awful and disruptive of my daily routines and lively hood . Along with that, the laundry situation has been a nightmare. Machines are constantly broken leaving me and other residents with no way to dry our clothes since there is usually only 1-3 working dryers. We don’t even get bare minimum necessities when we pay around 6000 a semester.

I have a child at Chamisa and demand better living conditions. Basic necessity of water is all I ask! Come on! Do better NMSU HOUSING!

My daughter has been dealing not only with ongoing water issues, but also with no air conditioning for MONTHS. This is unacceptable. There has been no sense of urgency from NMSU in addressing these basic living conditions, yet the bill for payment arrived right on time. My daughter should not be expected to pay for housing while enduring months without basic necessities. NMSU needs to address these issues with the same urgency it expects from students and families when payment is due.

We have been without air conditioning for 2 months. We have had so many problems with water. We deserve some sort of compensation.

As a chamisa resident myself, I'm getting sick and tired of needing to go and shower at a friend's place off campus. Something that should be a basic need isn't available to me in my own accommodation I pay for.

I live in Chamisa and pay a lot of money to be here. I feel like it is not worth the money we pay considering all of the problems I have been experiencing. When I first moved in this year my AC was broken. I put in a work order the first day and it has not been fixed since. I did not receive a key when I first arrived and had to use backups. It took them nearly a month to change the locks. Now we have the issues with water which effects the quality of life of everyone living here.

Everything in Chamisa has been broken since we moved in. We don’t deserve this, especially after paying outrageous prices.

Water and hot water is a basic necessity that we have been refused for two months without any compensation and very little communication. Also the very short notice of water outages is incredibly inconvenient.

It’s important to me because my sister is a student there and she works her butt off to live there and for the campus not to help fix their students to have the decency for them to have hot water Is unexceptionable. Come on do better for the students

I’m a resident at Chamisa and have not had hot water since moving in (August 17).

The lack of communication by the university is a joke!

They keep half-assing the repairs and every time they do it disrupts our routines when they inevitably have to shut the water off again. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Hey NMSU, have you heard of NM Stat 47-8-20? Sounds like a violation to me…

My sister has been facing issues with water since moving in back in August. This is not okay. This has been affecting her quality of life. This needs to be resolved immediately.

This petition is important because we deserve compensation for the service we’re not receiving

NMSU housing has had ample time to sort out these issues and they have stretched every issue much farther than necessary. The majority of the apartment complex has no hot water for two months, and now every apartment has been having constant water outages with no real updates or information. Housing says they "understand", but their houses all have functional utilities. This is ridiculous for the amount we pay as students who are already paying for school among everything else.

Hot water is a basic necessity and an essential part of safe, healthy, and livable housing. Students should not have to continue paying for housing while being expected to live without something as fundamental as hot water. Two months is too long. Our students deserve better. Please sign and help us make sure their voices are heard.

There shouldn't be a petition for this. Hot water and water in general should be a right when students are residing in dormitories that already cost an arm and a leg. COMPENSATE THEM!! This is BS.
