We, the undersigned members of Geothermal Rising, nominate CARBO (www.carbo.tech) to the Geothermal Rising Board of Directors, represented by Max Nikolaev, Chief Commercial Officer.
The problem. Enhanced and Advanced Geothermal Systems only scale if fractures stay open and conductive under extreme heat, pressure, and aggressive chemistry. That is a materials problem at its core, and the geothermal community needs that expertise represented on the board.
Why CARBO. Our GeoPROP portfolio (GeoPROP, GeoPROP NANO, GeoPROP MAX, GeoPROP AIR) is an engineered ceramic proppant built specifically to keep EGS and AGS reservoirs producing where conventional sand degrades. GeoPROP NANO penetrates microfractures that conventional proppants cannot reach and is fired above 1500°C to withstand conditions that dissolve sand. This is the unlocking layer for commercial geothermal at scale.
The bench. CARBO's Chief Technology Officer, Terry Palisch, served as 2024 President of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. As a recent Geothermal Rising member, CARBO is moving deliberately from oil-and-gas adjacency to a core geothermal contribution.
The ask. Add a materials and commercialization operator to the board: someone who connects subsurface engineering, manufacturing scale, and project economics. Sign to endorse this nomination.
CARBO's strengths of large scale manufacturing of proppant and developing solutions for downhole challenges will help EGS move forward.
