We call on campus management to improve cafeteria prices and the quality of food served, so that students can rely on affordable, decent meals every day.

This initiative comes after complaints that the food served on our campus is not well prepared and that the prices are not student friendly. Many students already have to stretch every rand to cover their daily needs and wants, and the cafeterias are not always accommodating students who are using NSFAS to manage those expenses. When food is overpriced and poorly prepared, it places extra pressure on students who are already trying to focus on their studies.

A campus cafeteria should do more than sell food. It should provide meals that are safe, filling, and good enough to support students through a long day of classes and study. Right now, too many students feel they are paying too much for too little, and that is not fair.

We therefore ask for fairer cafeteria pricing, better food quality, and a stronger commitment to meeting the needs of students, including those using NSFAS. Students deserve a campus environment where basic meals are affordable, reliable, and respectful of the realities many of us face.
