I am signing because Lampeter/Cwmann needs an affordable supermarket. I believe it will bring people in to Lampeter.
Ideally it would be better placed in the town.

The local community needs a cheaper alternative to the current Co-Op and Sainsburys supermarkets in Lampeter. Lidl would fit the bill perfectly. I’m forced to travel to Carmarthen to buy food and groceries so avoid Lampeter completely.

This is a huge opportunity for the town and surrounding villages, this area needs investment into shops and businesses.
Couple that with some cheaper or free parking and this town is booming!

Competition is good for the community and will be a lot cheaper than the Sainsbury's convenience store and the outrageous prices in the Co op. This will also bring more people into the town to use local shops.

I’ll shop in Lampeter instead of driving to Carmarthen or Aberystwyth. So I’ll also go to other shops in Lampeter which will help boost the town

Existing supermarkets are not suitable for a town this size. One you have to pay for parking even if you just need milk and bread and the other car park is constantly under water. Both are expensive. A Lidl would bring people from outlying villages into town instead of going to Carmarthen or Aberystwyth

Affordable food prices. Sainsburys and co-op are far too expensive. I popped in yesterday for literally just a few bits and it cost me £60. Having to drive 40 minutes to Carmarthen for a Lidl or Aldi isn't ideal, but at least I'm able to, others aren't so lucky in having a car.

No choice in Lampeter, travelling to Carmarthen and Aberystwyth is not viable now with the damaged roads and cost of fuel

It's vital to save a dying town. Hardly anyone shops in Lampeter because we can't afford thd hugely hiked prices and limited choice provided. Itmean a 15 mile round trip tobuy our weekly shopping instead if our current 35 mile trip to and from Carmarthen. It will force Sainsburys and the Co-op to be more competitive in their pricing. Its scandalous that the Council have gone against the wishes of the overwhelmingly in favour local people. Please fight on Lidl. You are so much needed and wanted.

This is a much needed retailer. It’s unsustainable to keep having to go to Carmarthen or Cardigan. We have limited funds and the cost of the monthly shop existing stores is too much. Not to mention the jobs created

I am writing as a resident of the Lampeter/Cwmann area to express my disappointment regarding the lack of affordable supermarket options available to local people.
At present, the main supermarkets serving our area are the Co-op and Sainsbury's. While they provide an important service, many residents, particularly those on low incomes, find them considerably more expensive than discount supermarkets such as Lidl or Aldi.
