URB,LLC created an event entity called Girlfriends in 2006. Girlfriends plans and host Girls Night Out, Bridal Showers and Baby Showers. This event component of URB operated successfully in East Falls Philadelphia from May 2006 until moving to Society Hill Philadelphia in October 2008. Since moving to Society Hill Philadelphia URB and Girlfriends has encountered unbelievable harassment. The business was cited as a public nuisance in February 2009 and an immediate cease and decease was imposed against the business and the business was SHUT DOWN. The business was again shut down May 29, 2009 cited as a speak easy, the owner, Rochelle Davis, was arrested and taken to jail and other menial violations that other Philadelphia based businesses would not have been shut down for were imposed..the harassment and racial disparity that exist in Philadelphia MUST STOP! As a friend of Girlfriends and URB please sign the petition to help Girlfriends and URB bring greater racial equality to businesses operating in downtown Philadelphia. Ask yourself how many minority-owned businesses are you aware of operating in downtown Philadelphia
