The Open air market with alcohol being served were one of favorite things during this crazy quarantine. It was so nice to have such a great sense of community and normalcy!

Why would you change? Businesses in the area are making money, people are coming to the zelienople area.... why lose the draw.?

I feel this proposed change is an unnecessary blanket cover all. This proposed ordinance will do more harm than good to the vibrancy of the community that has developed in Zeli. I see it suppressing local business and growth. Unless the ZPD can present a significant number of cases requiring police intervention, I suspect this is being driven by a few bad actor residents and not the majority of people in town.

If it’s not broke, don’t fix. This has always been done responsibly with great respect to the town. No littering, no belligerence, no issues. Not to mention supporting small businesses during time of restrictions.

I have attended many events in Zelienople where alcohol was permitted as you listened to bands or shopped at the sidewalk sales. Peaceful and no problems.

Zelie needs people not just inside its buildings but on its streets. For too many years everyone has been leaning away from social events and groups and togetherness. Events like the Thursday night open air market are EXACTLY what we need to keep people social. We need to recognize each other’s faces and know our neighbors. Taking away one aspect of what some people like about these types of events may be the tipping point to make them a failure. At which point we got back to sitting in our homes, not socializing, not venturing out to support our local businesses. The days of browsing from store to store just for the heck of it are practically a memory, so we need something to keep it alive. Don’t kill it faster.

Zelie has never been so busy , it's so great to see. So many people come from all over to enjoy the food, drink, music and shopping. The open air market was a huge success and help so many businesses in this tough time if COVID.

Having been a part of a family owned business for many years I understand how crucial foot traffic is to the business survival. Zelienople has found safe and creative ways to keep folks coming to shop and eat. I’ve been there for many events and I have never seen someone acting inappropriately but I have seen a lot of shoppers with bags. If you place an alcohol ban I assure you all of the little business will suffer and some will not make it. Our business of 20 years was taken down in the 2002 via bankruptcy. A bad economic situation paired with road/sidewalks construction in the plaza was the nail in our coffin. We had no foot traffic and like our situation today, people were spending less when they did shop due to financial uncertainty. Don’t let that happen to your small business!

This town has great soul. Businesses are thriving. Housing sakes are in demand. Last year was hard on everyone but this town gave the community strength. I encourage the decision makers to leave the ordinance as is. If the patrons start to disrespect this privilege then it’s time to revisit and adjust.

Bellevue, PA up until a few years ago with a dry town. It was slowly dying until they allowed the sales of alcohol, then it turned into a destination. New restaurants were coming in and people who did not live there were going there. This alcohol ordinance would have the reverse effect on Zelie. Not as many people would come because they enjoy being able to have a drink and walk the streets and shop. There is never any disturbances with these events, so it would just be bad for the community.
