Portsmouth City Council has twice rejected plans to demolish The Wymering Arms building and replace it with a block of 15 flats, citing issues of overdevelopment and a lack of parking provision. The developer, Baccus, has appealed to the Planning Inspectorate in Bristol in an attempt to overturn the ruling by Portsmouth City Council. The Wymering Arms Campaign are proposing the existing building be saved and sympathetically converted to provide much needed community facilities. We are also in discussion with English Heritage in an attempt to protect the building and obtain Listed status. We would be very grateful if you would consider signing our petition calling for the building to be saved and converted into a local convenience store to provide much needed services for the local community.
