Do you want to save The Wymering Arms building?
Would you support a convenience store on the site?
Portsmouth City Council has twice rejected plans to demolish The Wymering Arms building and replace it with a block of 15 flats, citing issues of overdevelopment and a lack of parking provision. The developer, Baccus, has appealed to the Planning Inspectorate in Bristol in an attempt to overturn the ruling by Portsmouth City Council. The Wymering Arms Campaign are proposing the existing building be saved and sympathetically converted to provide much needed community facilities. We are also in discussion with English Heritage in an attempt to protect the building and obtain Listed status. We would be very grateful if you would consider signing our petition calling for the building to be saved and converted into a local convenience store to provide much needed services for the local community.

The developer continues to push for demolition despite the clear message sent by the council. I am spending my evenings preparing documents for English Heritage because our neighborhood deserves to keep this building standing.

Seeing this level of support for the Wymering Arms is exhausting but deeply necessary. It is clear that I am not the only one who refuses to let this building disappear into the past.

Keep it standing! We dont need more flats blocking up the area. That building has history leave it alone.
Ridiculous to knock down a perfectly good building for more cramped flats. The area needs a shop not another eyesore block.

Save the Wymering Arms! It was a staple of the community for years turn it into a shop instead of tearing it down.
