WWC and Chamber Opposition of New Recycling & Transfer Station in Woodinville

No transfer station in Woodinville.

Horrible location for impact on schools, traffic, tourism.

Too close to a school, too smelly, too much traffic already on 202.

Noisy, smelly, high traffic on 202, too near high school and tourist district.

Please no more dumps. Woodinville and the surrounding area is already King/Snohomish counties dumping ground - area near Costco on 522 - garbage recycling, Brightwater sewage plant (essential public facility), cement recycling, metal recycling, roof material recycling, etc. This plan would put another stinky essential public facility on the other end of Woodinville. Please note the Brightwater sewage plant is very dangerous. King County sited it atop 1 confirmed active and 5 potentially active earthquake faults in the middle of the South Whidbey Island Fault zone (see last weeks series on this fault zone in the Everett Herald). We fought hard to prevent this facility from being built there because there is no way to build over a surface rupture type fault - King County didn't care. We ran out of money. King County paid SnoCo $70Million to site the boondoggle there anyway.

We already have a recycling dump and the Brightwater Sewage plant. Quit making Woodinville a dumping ground

Access from 405 and 522 is poor. It would require driving truck thru the wine tourism areas, or under a narrow rail trestle in an area of increasing resident traffic.

No more traffic, the roads can’t handle what’s there now.

This location would be a traffic nightmare for Woodinville. There is no direct access to from 405 and surface streets cannot accommodate this kind of large vehicle and traffic volume this site would attract. Also directly across from a school! Completely opposed to this location.

We don't want this station in Woodinville. We already have enough traffic issues.Please take it somewhere else. Thanks

Would destroy the destination travel business that supports this area

Please also consider that this site will impact the students of Chrysalis High School which is directly opposite the proposed site.

This will cripple the already busy roads of Woodinville and destroy one of it's key attractions, tourism, that a lot of lives in the neighborhood depend on.

Woodinville, is truly one of our only destination areas in East King County that still reveals a vacation feel. Bringing this dump site into the area will burn the roads and disrupt our only regions wine country vibe not to mention the restaurant industry and the feel of the community. Besides signing the petition, we can all help this effort by using products with less packaging materials, buying less, and reusing. Less trash = fewer landfills.

First there are many pediastrians during spring to fall for concerts, winery tastings, fund raisers, bicyclists, and much traffic all year. We will have more drivers on this road once the condos are finished built at the horse ranch. Once Chrysalis opens up in the fall post covid there will be more teens and families driving across the street from the area. The intersection is horrible as it is. I work and live on and by this road and DO NOT WANT A GARAGE FACILITY IN THIS AREA. There is already smell from the honey bucket business during warm months so do not want to imagine what a trash facility would smell like despite efforts to minimize. Big trucks that delivery supplies to the wineries, industrial parks and corner restaurants already block traffic when coming and going. Very dangerous. No thank you.

The appeal of Woodinville and more specifically its retail wine shops, restaurants, and recreational offerings are due to the town's natural and clean surroundings. Having this transfer station will negatively impact the economic potential of the area and any associated income for the city and KC for years to come. No one wants to sip wine next to a dumpsite. As Woodinville and our community continue to recover from the pandemic, we need to do what we can to help the small businesses in town. This project goes against that in every measurable way.

Doesn't make sense to have this near a touristy area, will adversely affect local businesses and residents.

having a recycling plant in a heavy visited tourist spot of eastside Washington will be a big negative for the businesses and makeup of neighborhoods here. The area has changed significantly over the years for the better and is a sort after location for restaurants, brewers and coffee shops. Installing a recycling will cause a major reversal of value and progress made over the last few years.
