WWC and Chamber Opposition of New Recycling & Transfer Station in Woodinville

A terrible proposal! The fumes the noise! Would definitely deter any tourist from visiting our “Tourist area”. Wine tasting, good food and a new transfer station! I’m definitely against this location choice.

Locating this facility on Rte. 202 in Woodinville will directly conflict with the King Co., local Woodinville and State promotion of this area as “Wine Country” and a tourist area. To do so would Amount to killing the goose rather than insuring the existence of our semi-rural, attractive and beautiful wine tasting area which is close enough to Seattle-proper to be a continuing and growing attraction for Pacific Northwest and Puget Sound tourism.

This area is already difficult to access and often backed up with traffic. Not suitable for a transfer station.

Woodinville is an eyesore. This would be an improvement.

We should not displace a currently active business and employer of the area. Woodinville is a tourist destination and the location does not seem suitable. The site should be developed where it has been in existence for the past 60 years, in Houghton.

There is massive traffic in Woodinville wine country during daily rush hour and every weekend for wine tasting tourism. This is an awful location for a transfer station

What a waste of money and desecration to a beautiful area. Seems more cost effective to update the existing transfer station.

Houghton is the only location that makes sense to me.

If this goes through, Brickyard Road, a high sloping 25 mph neighborhood collector road with blind curves would inevitably become a main route into the site. This road already has issues with constant speeding and lack of safe crossing areas. Woodinville itself, off of 405/522, which should be the most obvious route per the project requirements, does not have the existing traffic infrastructure nor the necessary improvements planned that would be needed to support multiple daily large garbage truck deliveries and returns, not to mention added traffic due to consumer recycling drop-offs. Traffic there, particularly under the trestle and getting on/off the freeway is already impossibly slow numerous times per day. There is no current transit service to the site, as well as no sidewalks. It would displace a thriving existing business with over 100 employees who do not want to leave. Site is close to a river, a school, and the rapidly growing (130+ and more coming) wineries area, which brings tourism dollars into the area. Just these three issues alone cause this site to be classified as a "poor" site location, according to the project's own requirements, along with a long list of numerous other negative issues. Please keep in mind that there will be another community meeting about this in August/September following the environmental impact studies on the proposed sites. No transfer station in Woodinville. Traffic is already a mess.

The egress to this location would be very troublesome if the new transfer station were to be located at this Woodinville site. The existing transfer station in Houghton has plenty of room for expansion and excellent egress. This is where the new station should be located - NOT Woodinville.

26 year resident and this will negatively impact my quality of life

The proposed transfer station to be located in the Woodinville area would be an incredible economic liability. Do not risk our tourism industry with this siting

Houghton
