As a close resident with property adjoining this parcel of land, I strongly oppose this site for several reasons.
1. The traffic and freeway access is challenging. Traffic is often backed way up on this street during commute times as well as weekends.2. This site is surrounded by many tourist destinations. It is in Woodinville /wine country. Buses and cars frequent the wineries and distilleries. A transfer station so near a tourist district doesn’t make sense and the presence of this station could potentially hurt these businesses

A transfer station in the proposed area is unconscionable at best. It will add traffic congestion, trash and noise in another wise quiet and peaceful residential / wine enthusiast playground. This is the farthest highest and best use for this property location.

Why would King County look for a site requiring removal of a business established in 1977. One that is minority owned employing over 100 people? It's all about who is crying the loudest to keep this dump away. Where is Kathy Lambert in all of this? She's up for reelection this year. Does Balducci as KC Council chair representing Kirkland have anything to do with why Woodinville was picked???
Woodinville got stuck with the other "essential public facility" - the Brightwater Sewage Plant. King County went through a similar bogus selection process of over 100 sites only to pick Woodinville for Brightwater (the most expensive/dangerous site of them all). But we essentially had no representation. We in fact found out the selection was made before the process even started. The whole thing was a joke.
It appears to be the same in this situation. Today they also looked at 100 sites only to pick 3, two of which make no sense. That is unless you look at who represents the area. Who has the loudest voice? Why does Woodinville have to accept another dump at the other end of town? A sewage plant now a county dump???
Don't let this happen again - lack of strong representation was the reason we got Brightwater sewage!!!(edited)

She just filed for reelection May 17th. Woodinville got stuck with the other "essential public facility" - Brightwater Sewage Plant why do they have to accept another at the other end of town? This site is directly across the street from Chrysalis School, and it's on a narrow road with challenging, hilly roads leading to it. I am opposed to it.

This is a terrible idea in woodinville. So are all the apartments and condos. I have to wonder what is being done about our roads and traffic. The 405 changes were shameful and this looks to be the same.

In everyway this is a absolutely terrible site for a transfer station. The 116th Street NE location is a far far better site, with better access AND the expectation is that Houghton will reopsn once revamped.

We live just a 3 minute walk from here and have absolutely no desire to smell this or be exposed to all of the additional noise. We would never choose to buy to a dump. I am pretty surr they can't put a dump this close to residential. It's one thing if residential builds around the dump but not the other way around.

Far more economical to use existing houghton site. Not start completely from scratch.

There is land right next to the existing transfer station. Use that.

Woodinville is growing and does not need the smell of a transfer station. The recycling center is bad enough.
