Please support the "Tim Tebow" bill in West Virginia

Kids should be given full opportunity to play sports and develop their love for sports and outdoor activity in general. This might be the best time for us to engage them to exercise before it is too hard to do so when burden of schools, works, family, etc. become too much for them to balance out, incorporate sports in their life, and reduce the many risks for complicated disorders related to diabetes which can be very well prevented with more sports and activity. Simply put: More activity = healthier life...isn't that what we all always aim for?

All students should have the opportunity to participate in sports activities.

Homeschooling families should not be descriminated against! These families pay taxes too!

This would be a great opportunity for the kids.

I just signed this cause wv is overweight but I don't think it's fair for it to be fair I think they should give homeschooled student harder work cause there's advantages that kids in school don't have it's easier I've never known a homeschooled student to fail cause it's practically impossible. Public school is harder and kids that do struggle sometimes don't get to play uses they go to summer school so I say make the home school work harder and have to report to the school about grades at least once a week

My son is homeschooled and works hard on his subjects but would really like an opportunity to be a part of organized sports.

I'm always for more opportunities for kids to exercise and stay healthy.

Please, fix this injustice. Our property taxes pay for this service.

If my children would have been allowed to participate in sports while being homeschooled or private schooled, they would never have attended public school. I totally support the Tim Tebow bill

My kids go to public school, but I firmly support the right of kids to play and also be educated in a supreme manner.

Its really important to get kids involved--the fact that we are not allowing children to play sports in high school is barbaric to me as it not only promotes child health and fitness, but it creates friendships and teaches kids very important llife lessions.

I think it is only right that home schooled students should be allowed to participate in team sports....their parents pay taxes same as other parents.

Please give each student regardless of whether they attent private school or are homeschooled the opportunity to TRY OUT for sports activities governed by West Virginia Secondary Schools Athletic Commission

This is so important to many kids- my son is homeschooled because he has too much anxiety to be in school- sports help him feel better and allow him to be around his peers:)

I have been homeschooling in West Virginia for over 10 years and was a teacher in the public schools before that. The discrimination against homeschooling families is ridiculous. Homeschoolers have to score on the 50th percentile or above on end of year testing, while the public school children can score at the 11% percentile (or lower!) and still be passed on to the next grade. In Raleigh County, if a homeschooled student in the 10th 11th or 12th grade attempts to enter the public school system, the Raleigh County Board of Education automatically places them in the ninth grade without any testing or explanation- period. We do have to be careful though, if they give us the 'privilege' to play on their sports teams, the BOE will make it even harder to homeschool in this state. We will have to jump through even more hoops. Raleigh County has a reputation (across the United States) for being unreasonable, dismissive and rude toward homeschooling families. There are families, who of course shouldn't be homeschooling, but Raleigh County wants to continually persecute homeschoolers because of a few bad apples. This year a homeschooled student was denied access to a vo-tech program. Another student, who went back to school in 9th grade after being homeschooled, was denied the right to play on a sports team because of some sort of documentation that was lacking - even though every policy, regulation, etc. had been satisfied completely. There are various problems with the public system of education. When a family makes the prayerful decision to step up and teach their own, they should not have to endure a rigid and defensive bureaucracy.

pI think all children should be allowed to play sports no matter what school they came from ! My child is pADHD and sports has helped him in school!
