The legislature has finally moved to respect individual choice regarding helmet use. I appreciate the patience of the 380 people who stayed committed to this outcome until we saw it through to the end.

We the people of West Virginia do call upon our Senators, through this petition, to pass Senate Bill 475 and Let Those Who Ride Decide.
On January 30, 2019, the WV Senate introduced Senate Bill 475, which would allow motorcycle operators and passenger's age 21 and over, having a valid driver's license for at least 2 years, to choose whether or not to wear a helmet.
(It is the basically a partner bill to HB2070 that the WV House of Delegates tabled in the Technology and Infrastructure Committee on January 28,2019.)

My wife was wearing a DOT approved helmet going less the 10 mph and it didn't save her life. Happened on June 23, 2007 on RT 18 south of RT 50 and West Union, Doddridge County. I moved to Ohio because of the helmet law in WV.
Founder and National President of Veteran Bikers MC. We are nationwide but founded here in WV. Many of us as veterans feel that wearing of the helmet should be our individual choice.
I’ve straddled a scooter for 60 years. It is a way of life. I'm not asking you to take your helmet off, I’m asking you to let me take my helmet off. If people take the time to research brain injuries, they will find that there are other sports a lot more dangerous than. Me going topless.
I support the right to choose whether to wear a helmet or not when riding in out beautiful state! I also think having the option to not wear a helmet will increase the number of motorcycle enthusiasts who otherwise will not come to our state to attend motorcycle rallies and / or explore our scenic roads. Support this bill in the Senate!
Please vote yes. Ohio was the first state to implement the helmet law and were also the first to remove it because the stats showed it made no difference helmet or not consider this thank you
This is a great state for motorcycle tourism. Please let adults make their own decisions and enjoy themselves.
Promote tourism and let those who ride decide.

Work in Huntington live in Ohio hate having to stop and put the lid on just to go 3 miles into WV. Helmet law keeps me from exploring WV more than that
