Western Union is offering a Cash to Africa for a month they will give away a $500 bonus to customers who wire money to Africa. Based on various watchdog groups the total losses to scammers (conartists, fraudsters) is over $10 and the bulk of the money lost is what is wired via Western Union to Western Africa, specifically Nigeria and Ghana. Africans are posing as Americans using dating and social networks to prey on lonely unsuspecting victims. The FBI put together a website for reporting complaints. Once a complaint is filed with the IC3 (www.ic3.gov), the victims have no recourse. There is no follow up, there is nothing but humiliation and disappointment. One victim was told unless you lost $100,000 there is nothing they can do. Based on information gathered directly from the agents their priorities are as follows: Corporate Crime, Organized, Crimes against Children, Identity Theft and on the bottom is Internet fraud. By stopping this campagain and forcing Western Union to open its eyes to the nature of the problem and it has a level of accountability. Why reward people for being scammed! Cut off the wallet of the criminals. NO WIRE SERVICES TO AFRICA!
