This cuts will cripple major institutions. There is no way back after losing this scale of expertise - when the economic situation improves, it is too late to repair the loss of skills and knowledge

De beschaving van een land is af te meten aan de wijze waarop zij met haar historisch erfgoed omgaat.

La recherche doit être préservée au travers notamment de ses institutions scientifiques fédérales!

Ook wij zijn van mening dat een grondige bezinning over de werking en de toekomst van deze instellingen zich opdringt. Enkele principes lijken ons daarbij voorop te moeten staan: een optimaal beheer en behoud van de toevertrouwde collecties, de vrijwaring van een weloverwogen acquisitiebeleid, de noodzaak om belangrijke onderdelen van de collecties te digitaliseren en ter beschikking te stellen aan het breedst mogelijke publiek, een maximale toegankelijkheid, de mogelijkheid om deel te nemen aan grote internationale samenwerkingsverbanden en de opdracht om in die internationale gremia waar nationale instellingen aan zet zijn, de belangen van de Belgische wetenschap op de efficiëntst mogelijke wijze te behartigen.

Au contraire, il faudrait investir plus de moyens de l'État dans la sauvegarde du patrimoine belge qui est en très grande partie d'une énorme dimension européenne, tant internationale qu'interrégionale, et en même temps il faudrait suivre une politique culturelle au niveau européen dans la même direction culturelle et patrimoniale.

In stead of creating new musea wer should better invest in a better accomodation of the existing collections, and a stable framework of competent personnel. Use our cultural heritage as a resource for the future!

Yet another clumsy attempt to destroy our cultural heritage by withdrawing support from a library whose riches should, indeed, be enhanced.

I sincerely regret the intention of cutting rashly into the budget of several cultural institutions. We have an immensely rich patrimonium, which should be proudly shown, instead of being burried in cellars and caves. More access will provoke a response from the public in Belgium, but also from people abroad. This will create more jobs and promote tourism. But no, the government prefers to incest our money into the departure of the 3rd etappe of the Tour de France in Antwerp, and to encourage even more athletes to go do the Olympics in Rio (all-in ticket, a nice uniform included)) although more representatives will surely not include more medals. And even ten: what's in a medal? Four years later there are new Olympics!
