Petition to Immediately Establish an Emergency Work Release Program
TO: 1. Governor Jeb Bush
Executive Office of the Governor
400 S. Monroe Street
The Capitol
Tallahassee, Florida 32399-0001
It is my suggestion based on 2004 Florida Statute 944.0231 Reduction of capacity, s. 944.023 Comprehensive correctional master plan, and s. 252.36 Emergency management powers of the Governor
And that since
1. Florida has been hit with 2 highly destructive hurricanes in the last 3 weeks and that
2. After Hurricane Andrew many unscrupulous, out-of-state contractors and/or workers flooded the area to perform overpriced, under code work and that
3. Florida has an untapped work force in it
Florida needs to get back on its feet. These guys have the skills and just need a chance to help us rebuild our own state instead of shipping in outsiders.

Finally some common sense. Stop paying contractors double to do a half ass job when we have folks here who can handle the labor.
