This is an urgent demand that our President and Congressmen get immediate aid, medical assistance and food to those that are stranded in New Orleans, Mississippi, and Alabama and the rest of the Gulf Coast suffering from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The conditions on American soil are that usually seen in third world countries and this is unacceptable. We are also demanding that our President and Congressmen develop plans for the displaced citizens including; monetary aid, jobs, housing and security. We are demanding that this country treats its citizens that are facing turmoil and danger locally first before sending aid abroad. We are demanding that the President act quickly and decisively on this matter and that monies are placed to repair the wetlands and have the coastal restoration project approved to get the city of New Orleans back to living conditions and that plans are put into place to guard against future failures. We also demand that the President use this horrible example of extraction and order by FEMA, Homeland Security and other government agencies to work on effective plans of evacuation and support for this country\'s citizens in time of diaster. We are demanding that the American People\'s best interest be put first and not the interest of those overseas. If you don\'t want to put your address on the list, make sure to put your zip code so that we can forward this to your congressman. Also please take a moment to send a copy of this petition to your local Congressman, just click the link and type in your zip code to find out who serves your district and forward this to everyone you know.

Why are we sending billions to other countries when our own people are dying in the streets? Fix our own backyard first.

My heart goes out to everyone affected. They need immediate help with housing and jobs. Stop the politics and just act.

Total failure by the government here. Those people had no way out and now they have nothing left. Help them get back on their feet.

Unacceptable conditions for any human being. Praying for all the families who lost everything.
